Ooh.. Very Scary!
A friend of mine from work, Rob Whitaker,
made this image of me as a zombie. Cool.

Okay, I was born in Denton, Texas when my parents were going to North Texas
State University. My older sister Denice was born during their time there as well
which leads me to wonder if they ever found time to study. Apparently they did
though because they both got degrees in education and followed job opportunities
to Lubbock, Texas where I grew up.

Lubbock, TX

Lubbock was a cool place to grow up and that's where I discovered art... or should
I say comic books (Star Comics, if you're still there I owe you). My whole family was
very creative and everyone was very supportive, which was good... I was a praise junkie.

Anyway, my childhood was a pretty standard "nerd-esque" experience. I collected comics,
played D&D (and painted those little lead figures... heh), was in the school band, took a bunch
of science classes in high school, drew comics like a madman... child, whatever... and
wanted to be a rock star. I think I saw Buckaroo Banzai one too many times.

(there's Mac Davis too but we don't talk about him...)

So that pretty much covers it all the way through high school. I graduated, thanks, and since
there's a perfectly good University in Lubbock (Texas Tech University), I decided to go there
with the lofty goals of being a Physicist - yeah, you heard me!

Texas Tech University

Let me tell you something, that "weed-out" process they put you through really works!
I lasted about two years, bouncing all over the Engineering department and
finally decided I would make a pretty mediocre engineer. That's when I decided
to rely on the old fallback...ART. I know this is riveting stuff but I'll go ahead cut to it;
after 6 and a half years I ended up graduating with 2 Bachelors' degrees in Studio Art and
(to my surprise) Literature. What can I say, I like to read.

Also during this time, I joined my first rock band: Zipperhead. We weren't too good
but once again I lucked out with very supportive friends and family who convinced us
that we were actually very cool. At least it kept us practicing, which was a good thing.

After graduation and having absolutely no real prospects (shocker) I joined up with a
childhood friend and fellow geek, James Berry (may he rest in peace), who happened to be
a game programmer making his own BBS games in his garage.
He taught me the computer and I worked with him for a year before I decided to move
to Austin and seek my fortune. Riiiight.

Austin, Texas

Man! Is this long or what? Anyway, I moved to Austin, found a job in the video game
industry with Iguana Entertainment (eventually), met a girl, started a new band - Swift Justice,
married the girl, bought a house, acquired 2 small dogs who then grew into 2 very big dogs and
destroyed most of said house. Iguana was bought out by Acclaim who then spent the next
9 years destroying itself and my job.

I've written a screenplay with my bud, Chris Brower, and have plans to make it into a
cartoon series one day. My band has released a handful of CDs that only a few people
have ever heard but we rock! I love my wife, I love my family and friends, and I love my life.

And that pretty much brings us up to date.

These little suckers are HUGE now!!!
